What is Laser Tattoo Removal?

We use a highly specializes laser treatment known as the Trivantage that allows for the treatment of many tattoo colors in one session.  Laser tattoo removal works by vaporizing the particles of pigment in the tattoo with a laser beam.  The treatments hurt a bit, much like the pain you experienced when you had the tattoo in the first place. In our office, we perform both tattoo removal treatments to get rid of a tattoo or tattoo lightening treatments that help reduce tattoo color so that it looks lighter or can be covered up better with a new tattoo. Some of our patients just want one part of their tattoo removed for a particular reason, and that is a much simpler process.

Is the laser tattoo removal system FDA Approved?

The laser system used at Advanced Aesthetics Medical Spa is a top-tier laser and is FDA-Approved for tattoo removal.

Can a tattoo be removed with just one laser tattoo removal session?

Typically, the laser beam can vaporize a segment of the pigment within the skin at any given time.  Although it is possible that lighter tattoos can lighten significantly with just one treatment, it is more likely that it will take a few treatments for the majority of the ink to vaporize.

What tattoo colors can be treated with the laser?

Black, blue, and green tattoos are often easier to treat than yellow, white, and fluorescent colors.  Red tattoos are often more difficult to remove than black or blue tattoos.  Lighter shades can respond differently, depending on whether the tattoo artist used a primary color or diffused the color with white. Our staff are experts in laser tattoo removal treatments and can help guide you through the process. You will find that the entire process of tattoo removal is quite logical and controllable.

How many laser treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?

It is difficult to estimate the number of sessions needed to remove your tattoo. Commonly, amateur tattoos take fewer treatments when compared to professional tattoos.  Some colors will absorb the laser beam much better than others, requiring less treatments overall.  In addition, lighter fades may require less laser tattoo removal sessions than full coverage tattoos.  Our clinicians have also found that older tattoos require fewer treatments than fresh tattoos. Most tattoos will require about ten to twelve treatments for optimal results.

Most patients find the tattoo removal process tolerable, especially since it is often less painful than the tattoo itself. Some locations on the face or body are likely more painful than others.  Needless to say, a tattoo removal treatment on the sole of the foot is likely more painful than the forearm. Our office utilizes top-tier FDA approved lasers to minimize your pain level and maximize results.
