Botox® Cosmetic Treatment is a simple, therapeutic, physician-administered nonsurgical muscle relaxing agent that can temporarily 
smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
One 10 to 15 minute treatment, just a few tiny injections and within 3 -7 days there's a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, around the eyes or wherever your physician treats the wrinkles. Given its unique mechanism of action, Botox® offers sustained relief, dose after dose over the course of long-term treatment. The relief you will feel from a single treatment of Botox® will normally be sustained for approximately three to four months. You will notice a gradual fading of its effects. At this point, you will return to your doctor for your next treatment.
Usually, Botox® treatments are required only three or four times a year. Symptoms may vary throughout the course of the condition, and so the degree of relief and duration of effect varies from person to person. Dermal fillers are substances that are injected just below the surface of the skin to fill in lines, wrinkles, and scars. Unlike face lifts that stretch the skin, fillers add volume for a more natural youthful appearance. Fillers can also increase the fullness of the lips and lessen the downward slant of the corner of lips.
The most common areas treated are the smile lines around the nose and mouth, fine lines above the mouth, frown lines between the eyes, loss of volume around the eye and cheek area, and acne scars.
Advanced Aesthetics Medical Spa Uses Restylane®, Sculptra™, Juvéderm™, and RADIESSE
Restylane® is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid based dermal filler.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in skin and works to trap water and maintain the intercellular space within the dermis. As skin ages, hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin are gradually lost from the dermis. The end result is volume loss, skin laxity, and wrinkles. Restylane® was FDA approved for the treatment of wrinkles in December of 2003, but has been widely used in Europe and other parts of the world for many years.
Restylane® is produced from streptococcus bacteria. It is purified, sterilized, and then chemically stabilized into a clear gel. Restylane® is used to replenish the dermal volume loss that allows wrinkles to form. It is also used to enhance lips and fill in acne scars. Because it is minimally modified, Restylane® has a low incidence of hypersensitivity reactions and requires no skin testing prior to treatment. The chemically stabilized hyaluronic acid found in Restylane® can remain in the dermis up to one year. This is significantly longer than the collagen based dermal fillers.
Once injected, Restylane® integrates into the dermis and binds water. The results are immediate. It does nothing to hinder the normal metabolism and movement of nutrients and oxygen. Over time, Restylane® is gradually reabsorbed without a trace. For this reason, follow up treatments are needed to maintain your results at 6 to12 month intervals. The amount of Restylane® used during your treatment depends on the desired correction. Side effects include redness, swelling, and injection site pain that may last for up to one week.
Sculptra™ is used for restoring volume and improving facial contours. Sculptra™, manufactured by Dermik, is Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLA). PLA has been safely used in orthopedics since the mid-nineties and has been used in Europe since 1999 for cosmetic correction of scars and wrinkles.
Sculptra™ works differently from other injectable products such as botox, collagen and restylane® injections. With Sculptra™, tiny particles of PLA are diluted in a suspension of sterile water, carefully implanted in the skin, and then molded for optimal results. The particles of PLA stimulate the formation of new collagen in the skin, adding volume over time.
Sculptra™ may require a series of three to five treatments every four to six weeks. Improvement in contour occurs gradually over two to six months, an advantage for those people wishing to avoid the obvious tell-tale overnight change in appearance of cosmetic surgery.
There is no downtime with Sculptra™ treatments. Temporary bruising and swelling may occur and typically resolve over a few days. Proper use of Scultpra™ produces a more youthful, pleasing facial contour in people with facial ageing, wrinkling and loss of facial fat. Results may last 2 -5 years depending on technique and area treated.
Juvéderm™, a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment, is a smooth consistency injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid that works to smooth wrinkles and folds.
Juvéderm™ is made of hyaluronic acid - a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your healthcare professional eases Juvéderm™ under the skin to fill the soft tissue of the dermis - the dense inner layer of skin beneath the epidermis - to add volume and diminish wrinkles and folds which provides a smooth, natural look and feel.
Juvéderm™ injectable gel is used most effectively for those wrinkles and folds in the lower third of your face, like your "laugh lines," "smile lines" or "parentheses" (nasolabial folds), or "marionette lines" (oral commissures).
